Our Parents & Community

Aberchirder Primary school have a great relationship with our parents & the community. We currently have several volunteers who help at the school. We are always welcoming anyone who wishes to share their skills and time with us and if anyone would like to volunteer their time, please get in touch with the school office.

Mr Duncan Robb

Mr Robb is our local Lollipop Man, but he also comes into the school a few times a week to take groups of children out to garden. Mr Robb teaches the children about growing vegetables, looking after them as well as the beautiful flowers that decorate the entrance of the school. Mr Robb also provides sunflower and tomatoes for each class in term 4 and classes have a competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower.

Mrs Brenda King

Mrs King is the local librarian and she often comes into classes to read to them as well as organising author visits etc. Mrs King is a fantastic storyteller and has even read a story during events such as the Big Scottish Breakfast. Mrs King is also involved with the Aberchirder & District Association who we have a close link with.

Mrs Anne McArthur

Mrs McArthur volunteers her time to come and teach our pupils Scottish Country Dancing. The School is currently a Gold accredited school for our Scottish Country Dancing. Mrs McArthur has taught all ages within the school different dances and the children attend local festivals alongside other schools, sometimes out with the cluster, to compete which the children love.

The Men’s Shed

The Men’s shed have been very supportive, building a chicken run for our chickens, providing logs for a class to participate in the John Muir Award and most recently building a mud kitchen for our Primary 1 class.

Volunteers

We have several members of our Parent Council who volunteer their time to help with our various Pupil Voice Groups each week, as well as any events the school hold. We are also very lucky to have parents who volunteer their time to go on school trips with classes when necessary.
